The worst thing you can do…

Lose weight now

Not long till the big guy comes down the chimney.
Yes I still believe in fairies (been a few of those at training recently!)

But the worst thing you can do this time of year is take you foot off the gas.
Stop training, stop exercising.

“Well you’re going to say that aren’t you Russell?”

Yes, because after nearly 30 years of coaching people, it has has taught me one thing…
Put in a little effort now…saves a whole lot of pain later.

We all say it…”I’ll crack on in the new year.”

So for a couple for weeks we fill our boots.
The belt buckle expands a notch.
Your pants/knickers start to fold over!
C’mon, admit it!

You get on those scales after boxing day and nearly have a heart attack.

But hey…
Your safe in the knowledge that come 2nd January we get on this ‘new keep fit regime!!!’

Yeah right.

‘New year, new you” the same old stuff rehashed.
Designed to make you feel good at the time.
When infact it’s setting you up to fail.
Because anyone who’s successful doesn’t keep starting and stopping.
It’s the sum total of the small efforts.

You know that feeling.
Those first few breathes as you drag that xmas dinner round on a run or a walk.
Everything seems harder, because you didn’t keep making those small efforts.

I’ll still be emailing you, whether you’ll want to listen or not is another thing.
But I’m going to try and HELP you out over the festive period.

Don’t worry you won’t be crying into a plate of quinoa.
I love my christmas dinner as much as you.
