Friday night I had to cook 300 burgers in the space of about 90 minutes.
It’s was Springfield Striders Friday Night Five.
£5 to enter, 5 mile race and then exchange their race number for one of my gourmet burgers cooked by yours truly.
Here in Pleshey as well as being the resident health, fitness and kettlebell man, I’m also our Village Hall Chairman.
Yep, I’m a regular Vicar of Dibley!
Anyway, it was a great atmosphere.
Everyone hangs out afterwards, has some food, listens to some music, has a beer.
The fastest runner came in in just over 25 minutes.
Mere mortals like myself coming in in double that time (if I wasn’t cooking).
But I have to pay respect to one of my clients Jo.
By her own admission she isn’t a fast runner.
I persuaded her to do the run, which she gave 100%.
Sure she had to walk a couple of times to get the feeling back in her legs, but so what..she had a go and finished it.
It’s important to every so often challenge yourself.
Step outside your comfort zone.
After all what’s the worst that could happen.
It doesn’t have to be a race.
It could be a longer walk.
Losing those few extra pounds.
Have a booze free month.
