Don’t worry it’s not some weird fetish I’ve developed…well not yet anyway.
I hope the start of your week has gone ok.
With the Tour De France around the corner I hit the road with my friend Rani on Sunday.
We explored Le Tour route from Great Waltham through to Willingale and back. About 26 miles all in all.
It warms the cockles of my heart to see so many people on bikes. Its so good for you.
There are always a few who like to try and ruin it though.
Coming back on one of the main roads we got some ‘aggressive horn’ from one young lady with a fag hanging out her mouth and few profanities.
She was probably just too overwhelmed by two gorgeous blokes in lycra.
There are lots of reasons to ride a bike.
Here’s a few:
It’s good for your heart. Good old fashioned recreational cardio and all the benefits that go with it.
Burns lots of calories and helps with weight loss.
Lots of fresh air and sunshine.
It’s something you can do with friends (we do the ‘tour de pub’ sometimes)
Do your joints hurt if you run too much? Mine do. Cycling doesn’t have any impact. its perfect.
Suffer with achilles problems? It wont aggravate it, so it’s an idea form of exercise while you’re repairing.
Whats better is that we are surrounded by some amazing countryside with very few cars around.
One of the best apps to track it is Strava. Its free and maps your route for you.
If you want to avoid main roads, drive somewhere with your bike.
People often park up in Pleshey and go for a ride.
Have a good day.
