I was training our Kettlebell group, the ‘invincibles’, on Saturday.
Afterwards, one of our regulars, Karen, came up to me.
Everyone had gone, she’d made eye contact.
I couldn’t get away!
Anyway Karen came up and said, “I just want to say thanks.”
I had that warm feeling come over me.
A sense of panic thinking, “what had I done?”
It turns out Karen had a big medical and got glowing results.
She went on to tell me about it.
It turns out that the nurse had asked her, as a part of the battery of tests, “Can you do a Push Up please?”
Karen replied, “Full or half push up?”
The nurse raised an eyebrow, “Ok, full.”
Karen replied, “How many would you like?”
Nurse replied jokingly, “No one likes a show off sweetheart!”
I Coach Karen one on one a couple of times a month.
She’s also a regular at our Group Training sessions here in Pleshey.
Karen does the work, so all credit to her.
I provide the Coaching, structure and support when she needs it.
Karen’s not a big fan of running like me so we improvise to allow for that.
She doesn’t always make it because of work commitments or delays on the trains.
But she’ll make the effort to do some sessions at home.
Usually a workout we’ve covered that she likes or something I’ve asked her to do.
You see it’s not rocket science.
Getting and staying shape doesn’t have to be hours on a treadmill or lonely trips to the gym.
Its the sum total of all the small daily efforts you make.
A recent study showed that when you exercise outside in a small group.
And you talk with each other you getter better results.
Thats how we like to work here.
If you’re interested in joining us, drop me a line.
Have a great evening.
