I hate running

I hate running…
There you go I said it.
I’m no fan of running.
But last night I went out and ran 2.5 miles.
Of course I stopped a couple of times to walk, but ran most.
My legs feel like they’ve been beaten with a baseball bat today.
But I have to be honest, for the first time ever…
I really enjoyed it.
I’ve avoided running.
Why?
Because I’m not good at it!
But you dont get better by avoiding it?
I ran a London Marathon a few years back.
The training was torture and I was glad it was over.
Did I prepare for it enough, no!
I’ve always struggled with running, even as a kid.
It use to set my asthma off which was undiagnosed at the time.
So running was a miserable experience whether I ran good or bad.
It’s fair to say I’m not built like a ballerina.
But with all the kettlebell competitions and other things I like to do, I have had to raise my fitness game.
Especially now that I have committed myself to doing an Iron Man Triathlon in 2016.
The reason why I havn’t been running till now is fear.
Fear of failing or not being good at running.
Ultimately fear is just another form of procrastination.
We put things it off all the time, until we have to do it.
The only way to get over it is attack it head on and get over it.
So if you are procrastinating, be it training, food, drink, running.
Just start.
Have a good evening.
